Federation Square, also known by Melbournians as Fed Square, is a Melbourne city treasure that was created in 2002 as a monument to commemorate 100 years of federation. It is a unique cultural precinct in the heart of the Melbourne City. There is always something on, it’s a great place to hang out and watch all the Melbourne City action. Since it was built the square has become a central meeting place in the city for tourists and locals alike.
Located conveniently opposite Flinders Street Station, the hub hosts over 2000 events annually, although in between these events, Federation Squares unusual design elements, selection of restaurants and bars and accessibility to free Wi-Fi draws visitors day to day.
ArtPlay at Federation Square
ArtPlay is where children play, learn and create. Children from babies to 12 years old can explore their creativity and share unique artistic experiences with professional artists. There are over 300 workshops, events and performances yearly held at ArtPlay.
It is also the only place in the Melbourne CBD that has a playground. There are slides, sand pits, swinging hammocks, activity panels, balance beams and a rock climbing feature.

- Morning Meditation: Enjoy a calm and focussed start to your morning on Thursdays from 8:00am to 8:30am.
- Qigong: Exercise your mind, body and soul with the Qigong class on Friday mornings from 8:00am to 9:00am.
