Victorian Wineries

Victoria is home more than 800 wineries, each housed in one of 21 distinct wine districts that are all known for different varietals and attribution to the holistic wine-tasting experience. There are many Victorian Wineries to visit, however there are two main regions to be aware of, the Yarra Valley and the Mornington Peninsula. Both regions are a few hours drive from the Melbourne City. Even if you don’t have a car, there are plenty of companies that are available to help get you to either place.

Our top Victorian Wineries to visit

One of the most popular – Yarra Valley

The Yarra Valley is a Victorian Winery region known for the dedication of its winemakers that stems across generations and is the area that is the starting point for Victoria’s wine industry in 1838. The stunning landscape clad with natural greenery is home to more than 80 wineries, making it one of the most visited wine regions within Australia. The sought-after TarraWarra Estate and Rochford Wines are popular picks as is Domaine Chandon, which is known for its sparkling wine production. If you are a chocaholic, you must visit the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery. It is open everyday from 9am til 5pm. Since opening in 2012, it has become a must visit place for anybody visiting the Yarra Valley.

Just a short drive away is the Mornington Peninsula

For a vineyard experience with a seaside touch, the Mornington Peninsula is in close proximity to Melbourne and is known for its ripe and flavourful Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays. As well as this, the fertile soil breeds olive groves and natural produce to its finest quality, with many of the 50 wineries within the region also focusing on serving seasonal culinary creations alongside its wines. The peninsula itself is also known for its beachside markets, world-class golf courses and spa retreats, transforming a daytime winery visit into a holistic relaxation experience.
