In September 2019 IHG Hotels & Resorts launched a national partnership with OzHarvest. They are Australia’s leading food rescue charity and assist with building a sustainable food culture and tackling food waste. This is part of our purpose is to deliver True Hospitality for Good. We are striving to make a difference, every day, to our people, guests and communities and protecting the beauty of the world around us.
How are we supporting OzHarvest?
OzHarvest Food Rescue
By supporting OzHarvest’s Food Rescue Program, we are preventing good food from hotels going to waste. We are using it to feed hungry Australians via a network of charities across Australia. This minimises food waste and provides high quality, nutritious meals to those in need.
OzHarvest Nourish Program
In addition IHG have sponsored ten-at-risk 16 to 25 year old’s to earn a certificate 2 or 3 in Hospitality through the OzHarvest Nourish Program. This partnership has given the young Australians the opportunity to gain on the job training at IHG hotels. This is done through mentoring, hotel visits, work experience and engagement opportunities with our food and beverage teams.
What are we doing in September 2022?
To raise funds for our partner we are launching a few initiatives to assist supporting them.
- Room Nights: $1 from every room night booked and consumed between 1-30 September 2022 will donated to OzHarvest. These bookings must be made via our ihg.com website or app.
- Dollar Diners : $1 donation is added to each restaurant & bar bill.
- Food and Beverage special burger: $1 for every purchase of the OzHarvest Burger Special will be donated to OzHarvest.
- Donation Webpage: A dedicated webpage will be set up for guests to donate directly.
